Description
Several insects, large and small are inside of this Cretaceous Burmite amber specimen. Look closely at the image and you will see many things; including large antennae, large beetle, and more!
In some pieces of amber, numerous insects are found close together because they were likely trapped simultaneously by sticky tree resin during a sudden resin flow or after being attracted to the sap. This could occur during a natural event like a resin leak after tree damage or as insects gathered on a fresh sap flow.
Such pieces are highly valuable because they capture a “snapshot” of ancient ecosystems and behavior, providing unique insights into species interactions, community composition, and even possible predator-prey relationships from millions of years ago. The rarity and scientific significance of these clustered inclusions significantly increase their market and research value.
