This is a hard-shelled Cretaceous beetle hiding on the edge of a mid-sized ovular burmite pendant. The worker who polished this piece of amber did not discover the insect until he put a heavy polish on the piece of amber and realized the edge fragments (now removed) were concealing a small beetle. As we have instructed to workers, it is important to foster stewardship and responsibility for the promotion of Kachin cutlural resources to international audience.
For this purpose we have rescued such beetle from jewellery and hope that it is collected and analyzed further, studied, with proceeds to support and maintain future ties and strength for future amber research in Kachin State Myanmar.
