Cretaceous Hemiptera in Burmite Kachin Amber | UI-G-16-25
$150.00
Description
This polished burmite specimen contains a rare and unusually preserved oval-bodied hemipteran-like nymph, tentatively comparable to Ponopterixidae, an extinct lineage closely related to early scale insects, aphidiform groups, and early Sternorrhyncha.
The organism exhibits a compact, sub-oval abdomen with a hardened dorsal shield, small anterior head capsule, and posterior segmentation trailing behind the body. The TIFF images show marginal spines, fine setae, and a consolidated dorsal plate consistent with early sap-feeding Hemipteroidea, not mites.
