Description

This specimen contains a well-preserved male earwig (Order Dermaptera) preserved in mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber from the Hukawng Valley of Myanmar. The insect exhibits the classic diagnostic feature of earwigs: prominent, curved forceps-like cerci at the tip of the abdomen. The forceps are strongly developed and distinctly arched, confirming this as a male individual.
