Cretaceous Burmite amber with well preserved centipede inclusion and syninclusions | cn-06-25
$300.00
Description
A highly attractive specimen of Cretaceous Kachin burmite preserving a well defined centipede inclusion in a dramatic curved posture, accompanied by additional small syninclusions and organic debris. The principal myriapod is clearly visible across much of its length, with the segmented trunk and laterally projecting legs giving the piece strong visual character and immediate recognition value.
This inclusion is best interpreted as a centipede (Class Chilopoda), preserved as an elongate predatory soil-dwelling arthropod within mid-Cretaceous resin. The body shows a long, articulated trunk with repeated segmental leg pairs, a differentiated anterior region, and a natural curved entrapment pose that enhances display appeal. Centipedes are especially desirable in burmite due to their distinctive morphology and paleoecological significance as active litter and microhabitat predators.
The amber matrix itself is pleasingly translucent and houses a variety of additional particulate and organic syninclusions, including a small insect and dark debris fragments, adding further depth and paleoenvironmental context to the piece. These associated inclusions help present the specimen not merely as an isolated organism, but as a small preserved window into a Cretaceous forest floor ecosystem.
