Feathers in Burmese amber represent some of the most scientifically meaningful inclusions known from the deposit, offering direct insight into the evolution of flight, thermoregulation, coloration, and feather architecture in the mid-Cretaceous.
The feather in this specimen is impressively large, spanning a wide portion of the amber and preserved with excellent structural clarity. The vane shows asymmetric barbs and delicate branching, while the basal region appears contoured against a resin flow line—indicating the feather adhered to fresh resin before sinking during subsequent flows.
