Taxonomic Classification
Locality: Hukawng Valley, Kachin State, Myanmar
Age: Upper Cretaceous, Cenomanian (~99 Ma)
Tentative ID: prob. cf.Burmesescorpiops sp. (Family †Palaeoeuscorpiidae)
Key morphological traits:
Carapace: Smooth to finely granular; no strong dorsal keels; 2 lateral eyes / side + median pair
Metasoma (tail): Stout segments I–IV short, weakly carinate; segment V slightly longer and slender
Telson: Pear-shaped vesicle, laterally rounded; no subaculear tubercle; aculeus (sting) intact, gently curved
Walking legs: Slender, smooth; paired ungues preserved; no tibial spurs
Preservation notes:
Inclusion is incomplete, however it is buffered by clear amber. Telson is fully visible. Minor flow lines, micro bubbles and other paleobiota, outer amber-skin exposed on edge, incomplete scorpion. The pectines are not observed.
Diagnostically this specimen matches Burmesescorpiops due to its smooth carapace and a slender strongly-carinate tail, and a subaculear spine.
