Very rare Chimerachne yingi spider | ui-g-24-25

$7,000.00 $5,500.00

Description

This specimen is a world-class paleontological rarity: a Chimera spider in the process of pursuing its last prey before being entombed in Cretaceous Burmite amber.

This museum-quality piece features one of the most scientifically significant arachnids ever discovered. Chimerachne yingi is a unique “missing link” in arachnid evolution, possessing a combination of modern spider traits and primitive features.

  • Primary Inclusion: A well-defined Chimerachne yingi. It displays a compact, spider-like body with four pairs of walking legs and fangs (chelicerae).

  • Defining Feature (The Tail): The specimen exhibits a long, whip-like, segmented telson (tail), which is the hallmark of this genus and is entirely absent in modern spiders.

  • Anatomical Detail: Visible spinnerets confirm its ability to produce silk, while its primitive segmented abdomen and tail highlight its place as a late-surviving stem-group arachnid.

  • Associated Inclusion: A small fly (Diptera) is trapped in close proximity, suggesting a predatory interaction or a shared micro-habitat on the ancient forest floor.

  • Amber Quality: The Burmite is a rich honey-orange hue with high transparency, allowing for clear observation of the microscopic hairs and sensory organs on the arachnid’s legs and tail.
